“Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person,
though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
-Romans 5:7-8 [NLT]

A Time to Think… “As I now view life in America as a private citizen, I am struck by the  similarity of our expressions of patriotism and faith. Occasionally I wonder if we get the cross and the flag confused. As American Christians, we are indeed twice-blessed, but we should not get the two confused. America is an imperfect place, an unfinished project, an ideal we hope to make a reality.”  ―General Roger A. Brady, 33rd commander of the US Air Forces in Europe

A Time to Act… . Today is a reminder of those who gave it all for others, even those they never knew.  Today is a day to say, “Lord,  I am grateful every day that I am a citizen of America, and there is no other place on earth I would rather call home. Like most Americans, I am here by virtue of circumstances over which I had no control. I cannot explain it. I can just be thankful for it. But I know the real citizenship I need is with you—the citizenship in Your kingdom, because when all is said and done, that is the only one that counts.

A Time to Pray… O God, on this day I think of the millions of our sons and daughters who have lost their lives in 14 wars America has been in. I am thankful for their willingness to stop hatred, oppression, and abuse. May I never forget their sacrifice so I and many others may live in freedom. Help me Lord, to take up my own cause of loving and caring for others, so they may be free from their situations, and find hope, grace and unconditional love in You, O Lord, my Rock, Redeemer and Savior, AMEN.
