“Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture he said, ‘I am thirsty.’ A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. 30 When Jesus had tasted it, he said, ‘It is finished!’ Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” -John 19:28-30 [NLT]

A Time to Think…
“The three most powerful words ever spoken: ‘It is finished.’” -Attributed to Jesus’ last words from the Cross

A Time to Act…
Good Friday is hard to call ‘good’ because our Savior died a horrible death. He, who was without sin became sin for us. What we must remember is: the work of Christ isn’t something that’s in the process of being finished or something that might be finished. It IS finished! And because it is finished, we have access to everything Jesus is and can live in His goodness, faithfulness, and power right where we are!

A Time to Pray…
O Jesus, Precious Savior, I weep today because it was my sin that nailed you on the cross. It is hard to fathom the depth of your love for me to do such an act, and all I can say is “I am so thankful” because I could never rescue myself. Give me courage to live for you and share your love for others who are seeking help and redemption. Only you, Jesus, can redeem us now and forever. My heart is grateful even though my tears are flowing on this sad but Good Friday. AMEN.
