“Good people take care of their animals, but even the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.” -Proverbs 12:10 [NCV]
A Time to Think…
“God created us for community. Our community even includes the animals, which this Bible verse reveals that we are to take for them, as part of that community. Righteously caring for animals means caring for the earth and their environment, too. So don’t litter the ocean where the dolphins and fish live; don’t spray harsh pesticides in your yard which harms critters; don’t harm the creatures God has given us. If we don’t start now, species after species will be no more.” -Lee Strobel, Pastor, Author, and lover of animals
A Time to Act…
This global day of action and celebration was created and founded by David Robinson and the Endangered Species Coalition in 2006, and has continued ever since. Sadly, our President is moving to effectively eliminate a crucial protection in the half-century-old Endangered Species Act so he can increase drilling, logging and development in the United States. Losing their habitat will lose these precious animals that God has created. May we take some time today and pray that our country would realize that harming animals, chopping down their habitats, etc., will kill them and it will harm us as well. This is NOT what God asked us to do in caring for our earth!
A Time to Pray…
O Lord, we pray today that our country would wake-up and realize that we are harming, hurting, killing what You have given us to take care of. Our greed for what we want for us, for big companies and oligarchs—all which is money—is not what You want us to do. Help us, O Lord, to do what is right in your eyes. May we walk in faith and love for all people, all creatures, and this incredible earth You have given us. AMEN.
