“He entered into the world he created, yet the world was unaware. He came to the people he created—to those who should have received him, but they did not recognize him. But those who embraced him and took hold of his name he gave authority to become the children of God!” -John 1:10-12 [TPT]
A Time to Think…
“You could more easily catch a hurricane in a shrimp net that you can understand the wild, relentless, passionate, uncompromising, pursuing love of God made present in the manger.” -Brennan Manning
A Time to Act…
Why is it at Christmas that we find ourselves pursuing stuff that has little to do with the coming of Jesus? We run all over trying find what looks the best for the tree, the lights, even the wrapping paper and the perfect tablecloth so all will be dazzling for our family and friends. The problem about this is that we forget Jesus! He came in a manger surrounded by animals and shepherds, I wonder what he would think about our pristine Christmas and all the ‘stuff’ we put into it?
A Time to Pray…
O Jesus, help us to chill a bit, to quit running here and there as if we could make your coming a dazzling show. Help us to be quiet, to pray and to think about what your coming to be among us is. No dazzle and tinsel, just YOU–searching for us and loving us every day of the year and into eternity. May our prayers rise to your ears that we may embrace your grace and share with others what Christmas is really about, AMEN.
