“My future is in your hands. Rescue me from those who hunt me down relentlessly. Let your favor shine on your servant. In your unfailing love, rescue me. Don’t let me be disgraced, O Lord, for I call out to you for help. Let the wicked be disgraced; let them lie silent in the grave.” -Psalm 31:15-17 NLT (St. Patrick’s most beloved scripture)

A Time to Think…
“I bind unto myself today The power of God to hold and lead: His eye to watch, his might to stay, His ear to hearken to my need; The wisdom of my God to teach, His hand to guide, his shield to ward; The Word of God to give me speech, His heavenly host to be my guard!” -the words on St. Patrick’s Breastplate

A Time to Act…
Legends about St. Patrick abound; but truth is best served by our seeing two solid qualities in him: He was humble and he was courageous. The determination to accept suffering and success with equal indifference guided the life of God’s instrument for winning most of Ireland for Christ. On this St. Patrick’s Day, may we remember the real reason for the day and try to do our best to be humble and courageous and allow God to help us share the gospel to those in need.

A Time to Pray…
O Lord, in the words that you gave to St. Patrick, I pray: Christ be with me, Christ within me, Christ behind me and before me, Christ beside me, Christ to win me, Christ to comfort and restore. Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ in hearts of all who know me, Christ in mouth of friend and stranger, Christ in quiet and in roar. Power to guide me, might to hold me, wisdom teach me, watching o’er me, ear to hear me, hand to guard me, love to conquer every fear. In Jesus name I pray, AMEN.
