Step Into Trust… Hello weekend readers. This last week I have read the news and I wish I hadn’t because I found myself losing my trust in our country, our leaders, manufacturers—even schools and colleges. The breakdown of trust is very sad and it hurts families, friends, and so much more.

One thing that got me was how many people of faith have lost their trust. For those who love the Lord we should know better, even if things seem to be breaking apart. God wants us to put our faith in him and if we say “I don’t know about that anymore, I just can’t trust things right now”—well, we have a big problem for sure! If we cannot trust in God, how can we help those who are seeking God and need to know about him? Yeah—it’s a mess isn’t it”

It’s time to get real folks. We know that we live in a world where everything that can be shaken is being shaken and that can easily overwhelm us to the point where we shout out to God asking “What can I possibly have to offer that will make any difference? Are you there, God” Do you see how hard it is to trust these days?”

The Apostle Paul says in Hebrews 13:5-6 [MSG] that we need to stop everything and step into trust in the Lord: “Don’t be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us—I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?”

I’m sure many of us know what that feels like—God is with us! Yet, we grab the headlines instead and forget to trust in God who is with us every day and takes care of us every day!  God promises this: As we trust him and step out in faith, he will never fail us or give up on us, or leave us. Do you know anyone that is faithful to you and this incredible promise?

We don’t have to do everything but for heaven’s sake we can do something, right! I think we’ve forgotten that we’ve been created for a specific purpose and we need to step out, even if it is fearful. That is where the trust must come in between us and God. God’s trust says “my child, just simply step out when I call and I will always meet you exactly where you are.”

It’s so easy to get caught up in our society and that is when we lose the whole picture God has for us.  You may say, “it’s too hard for me, just trying to make it each day is hard.” But remember this: God specializes in using ordinary people for extraordinary purposes. God is not asking you to be perfect. Instead, God is asking you to be available.

Trust isn’t always easy but it gets easier when we trust in God. Why not start your trust today and take a leap of faith in God. Let God lead you so you can take the next steps and beyond as well.

In closing, do this: sit a while and think of how God has shown his faithfulness to you in so many ways in your life. What did it mean for you? How did it change your life? When trust seems low, remember these powerful words from Philippians 1:6 [GWT]:“I’m convinced that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it through to completion on the day of Christ Jesus.” And my friends, that’s a promise indeed! AMEN.
