Get Ready For Something NEW! … Hello weekend readers. A friend and I were on the phone discussing ‘life’ and she just blurted out “Cyndy, I am in a rut and I need something NEW!” We talked about it for almost an hour and we both felt the same thing—we needed something new. However, we had no inkling of what we wanted!

My musing today is about ‘something new’ and even if I am not quite sure what it means, I am willing to dig in and look for what I do need. The problem is my need for something new may not measure up to what God wants me to have and that’s how I got stuck and I called my friend and no surprise there because she encountered the same thing!

Before we dive into this, think on this question: “Do you feel you need to have something new?” Be honest with yourself before you just grab something out of the sky. Write down some priorities and things you would like to have. I’ve been doing this since my conversation with my friend and we realized that what we wanted we already had it!

The Prophet Isaiah said in 43:19 [CSB] “Look, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.”

After reading this it reminded me that God is always doing something new but I have either ignored it or too often I just don’t listen, and I needed to wake up! What God is saying is this: “I am bringing about a new and miraculous intervention to provide hope and a way out of seemingly impossible circumstances, even while people are in a state of exile or despair. Here is my layout for my precious children…”

1) A promise of deliverance.
2) Hope in time of despair and fear.
3) An invitation to trust in God.
4) I am giving you the ultimate new thing!

Wow is all I can say because I know we can’t do that. We break promises, we lose hope, we hang on to fear and worries, and instead of taking God’s invitation, we do it our way. In #4 above, I wondered “Just what is the ultimate new thing we must embrace?” Remember that Isaiah’s words were to uplift the Israelites from their return from exile in Babylon. We, too, need to return from the exile we put ourselves in! It’s time we toss the “woe is me” and return to the incredible promises God has for us all.

God has planned this all out for us and God has something new for us every day but we don’t look for it, we don’t try it out, we sit on our couch and mumble—I use these words because it reminded me of my grandmother would say these words to us and then she clapped her hands and said “get outside and do something.” She was one smart lady indeed.

So, back to my question above: “Do you feel you need to have something new?” Are you ready for God to do a new thing in your life? Are you ready to step up and into your purpose that God has created for you? Are you willing to get ready for more of who you were made to be and the fulfillment of what you were made to do in your life? If so, then it’s time to get out of that ‘wilderness season’ and quit thinking that nothing is going to change. God is preparing something for you and me right now. God is making a way we can’t yet see but hang in there and get ready, God is in the lead with something new and with God, it is always wonderful! AMEN.
