“To speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.” -Titus 3:2 NLT
A Time to Think…
“I encourage courtesy. To accept nothing less than courtesy, and to give nothing less than courtesy. If we accept being talked to any kind of a way, then we are telling ourselves we are not quite worth the best. And if we have the effrontery to talk to anybody with less than courtesy, we tell ourselves and the world we are not very intelligent.” -Maya Angelou
A Time to Act…
Today is National Common Courtesy Day–celebrated on March 21st. It was started in 1967 but became a national celebration in 2003. Its main start was with teachers, then pastors and even CEO’s who realized that courtesy was floundering. They called it a day to be aware of how you treat others and to practice kindness and consideration and to encourage people to improve their behavior and recognize that how we treat others reflects our character.
A Time to Pray…
O Lord, help me today to show courtesy—kindness and respect—with everyone around me. I don’t want to be selfish or rude. Please continue to change me and make me more like Jesus. In Jesus’ Name I ask it, Amen.
